Departmental Administrative Assistant

As the departmental administrative assistant for the School of Liberal Arts, you will provide comprehensive and professional administrative support services to the office of academic services, department chair, school dean, and the faculty and staff who serve within the organizational structure of their school. This is an administrative support position that requires advanced project- and people-management skills through operational and administrative responsibilities, including tasks that require confidentiality, accuracy, punctuality, responsiveness, and agility.

In this role, you will collaborate with the academic operations managers to help their academic departments meet requirements and deadlines on operational matters. Collaboration extends to all units of the university, including but not limited to working on accreditation initiatives with institutional effectiveness, recruitment with admission, student matters with student success, registrar, career and alumni success, professional partnerships with SCADpro, academic content for printing and publishing and creative services, awards and rankings with institutional recognition, and more.

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's degree
  • One to three years of related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite (specifically Word and Excel), BANNER, or a similar database
  • Commitment to discipline, honesty, and integrity
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Successful work experience in an academic environment

Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Valid driver's license

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
