Assistant Professor of Chicana/o Latina/o Transnational Studies

Chicana/o Latina/o Transnational Studies Field Group in conjunction with the Intercollegiate Department of Chicana/o Latina/o Studies at the Claremont Colleges invites applications for a tenure-track position at Pitzer College at the Assistant Professor level, with a focus on Gender, Sexuality and Latinx/e Studies. Candidates with interdisciplinary training and a strong theoretical foundation in the intersections of gender, sexuality (including Queer and Transgender studies), labor, class, Indigeneity, and/or cultural studies are encouraged to apply.

A Ph.D. in Chicana/o-Latina/o Studies, Central American Studies, Ethnic Studies, Native American/Indigenous Studies, or related interdisciplinary discipline is preferred. We also welcome candidates from traditional disciplines, but preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in Ethnic Studies and with expertise in fields other than our existing strengths.

The teaching load for this appointment will be five courses (2/3) annually. The successful candidate will teach courses in their field of expertise in the Field Group, satisfy departmental required courses (on a rotating basis), and regularly teach a writing-intensive seminar for first- year students at Pitzer College.

The candidate will be hired through Pitzer College, and they will be affiliated with the Intercollegiate Department of Chicana/o Latina/o Studies. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively in an intercollegiate and interdisciplinary setting, have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, and have a demonstrated commitment to improving higher education for underrepresented students.

Compensation range: $88,000 - $92,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
