Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) and Academic Search invite candidates and nominations for a visionary, collaborative, and entrepreneurial academic leader to serve as the next Dean of the College of Education and Communications. Reporting to the newly appointed Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Lara Luetkehans, the new Dean will provide leadership for all matters of the College concerning faculty and staff, curriculum, budget development and management, facilities oversite, resource development, evaluation of programs, and the initiation of new programs. This is a premier opportunity for an academic leader who understands the changing landscape of education and emerging trends in communications and media technology. The new Dean is expected to begin work in the summer of 2023.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Terminal degree in one of the disciplines within the College of Education and Communications
• Record of scholarship, teaching, and service commensurate with the rank of Professor at IUP
• Proven administrative leadership abilities, including faculty and staff oversight, fiscal management, and strategic planning
• Track record of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Track record of teaching and service to students
• Commitment to and support for shared governance
• Experience with accreditation review
• Experience with curriculum assessment and design

Desired

• Commitment to consensus-building and transparent and collaborative leadership and communication style
• Demonstrates a passion for student success and the student experience
• Experience growing enrollments
• Visible and accessible leader
• Experience evaluating and reshaping curriculum to meet current and future student learning needs
• Ability to develop community relationships and new funding sources
• An appreciation for all disciplines within the COEC
• Bias for action and a record of setting and surpassing goals
• Experience with undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs
• Experience with state department of education (PDE in PA) partnership and policy compliance
• Experience teaching and/or leading in a union environment
