Coordinator of Writing

As a Coordinator of Writing, you will be responsible for teaching students strategies to boost their writing skills and improve overall academic achievement, as well as coordinating all activities for the Writers' Studio in Atlanta. You will conduct individual and group appointments with students (in-person and virtually); produce online resources and promotional outreach materials for language tutoring and for the studio; and supervise, hire, and train English language and writing peer tutors.

You will, as needed, develop and deliver tailored workshops and classroom presentations in collaboration with faculty, including the resources and strategies to achieve writing-specific learning outcomes. Among other duties, you will also promote services at university information sessions, provide extended individual assistance via the thesis-support program, and contribute and create content for Blackboard publication.

The successful candidate has spectacular interpersonal communication skills and is able to thrive as an independent contributor. A solid background in an artistic discipline is a welcomed bonus, as is collegiate-level teaching experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in English, writing, rhetoric and composition, professional and technical writing, or closely related discipline


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in English, writing, rhetoric and composition, professional and technical writing, or closely related discipline
  • Professional experience with ESL students


Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
  • TESOL certification (preferred)


Work Hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
