Professor of Illustration

SCAD seeks a full-time professor of illustration to help prepare the next generation of award-winning illustrators.

In this position, you will deliver courses of the highest quality, demonstrate model leadership to students, foster a positive learning environment, fulfill departmental duties, and contribute to the university's strategic goals.

The successful candidate is well-versed in both the history and future of illustration trends, and is an experienced concept illustrator for characters and environments. Professional expertise in animation, gaming, and mobile gaming is preferred, as is proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop. A strong working knowledge of 3D programs such as Maya, ZBrush, and Blender is also essential. The candidate should also possess a style, aesthetic, and viewpoint that is unique and innovative.

Requirements

- Terminal degree or its equivalent in illustration or a related field
- Published credentials, accolades, and industry recognition
- Exceptional composition, color, and drawing ability
- Minimum of three years experience in commercial illustration and university-level teaching experience

Position Summary: The professor delivers courses at the highest quality, demonstrates model leadership, fosters a positive learning environment, fulfills departmental duties and contributes to the university's mission and strategic goals. In addition to other duties and responsibilities required in the faculty handbook and the employment agreement, a professor teaches courses/contact hours as determined by their credentials, university needs and a signed employment agreement. The university, in its sole discretion, may assign the professor to a teaching or non-teaching position as stipulated in the employment agreement.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Terminal degree in the discipline or in a related field.
- Teaching experience at the collegiate level preferred.
- Experience in or knowledge of related professions.
- Academic and professional credentials to teach in a certain discipline.
