Special Collections Librarian

In this role, you will coordinate special collections exhibitions and digital collections programming, preserve and digitize projects, and instruct classrooms. You will establish and maintain departmental stats, standards, policies, procedures, and online research guides; assist students and faculty with the identification and usage of appropriate special collections materials, and provide access to the prominent artists' book collection (i.e., instructional sessions to classes, individuals, tours of prospective students and external groups). You will select, receive, process, and promote all special collections materials; serve as an administrator for relevant library exhibitions, and lead and initiate digital image production and metadata creation.

Among other duties, you will develop and implement activities and planning as they relate to preservation and will determine appropriate archive procedures, storage, and policies for SCAD Libraries based on best practices. You will also assist in staffing the combined reference and circulation desk and support online research service and student-focused outreach activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • M.L.S. degree from an ALA-accredited institution
  • Experience in special collections and with artists' books

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in a subject taught at SCAD
  • Preservation, digitization, and/or cataloging experience

Work Hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
