Chairperson - Management

The Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico (UNM) invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Management. The Department of Management is a collegial and intellectually vibrant group of faculty. The Anderson School of Management is home to approximately 3,000 students, 58 full-time faculty and 42 staff. The School is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. The School offers BBA and MBA degrees in multiple tracks, an Executive MBA, a MS in Cybersecurity and Business Analytics, and a MS in Project Management. Programs are offered in multiple modalities including face-to-face, online, hybrid, and accelerated.

The successful candidate will be a scholar with a strong record of publications appropriate for a full professor of Management (see https://handbook.unm.edu/b2/ , section 2.2.3(b)) including relatively recent placements in top journals in the management field. The successful candidate must have the record to support appointment at the level of Full Professor with tenure at the University of New Mexico.

The Department of Management faculty is currently comprised of four Full Professors, six Associate Professors, three Assistant Professors, four full time Lecturers and one Clinical Professor. Departmental resources include dedicated monetary and research resources to support academic excellence.

The Department Chair of Management plays a critical role in the academic life of the School and is responsible for carrying out the School's vision and mission as they relate specifically to research, teaching, learning, and student success in management. Reporting to the Dean, the Department Chair is responsible for creating an environment conducive to research excellence, collegiality, as well as developing and implementing strategies that support institutional goals and aspirations. The Department Chair is highly engaged with faculty, staff, senior leadership and multiple other internal and external stakeholders. The Department Chair is responsible for the following specific outcomes: 1) Providing academic leadership and mentoring faculty, 2) Supporting high-quality academic and research programs that address management and business community needs, and 3) Promoting student recruitment, retention and completion of management programs. The Department Chair will also encourage and support fundraising endeavors.

Candidates with established records of accomplishment and reputation in Management are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have an academic record appropriate for a Full Professor in Management at UNM; have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education; continue to pursue their research; support the advancement of the faculty in the Department of Management as well as in the Anderson School of Management overall; and take advantage of UNM's strong ties with the business community to enhance the Department's reputation and visibility.

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Management or a closely related discipline, experience commensurate with the Full Professor rank, interest in or demonstrated leadership, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Applicants should be able to articulate a progressive vision for education, research, and service consistent with the values, mission and goals of the Anderson School of Management and UNM.
