Job Description Summary
This position will support the operation as a PSOM-approved service center as well as multiple research projects for the OCRC Tumor BioTrust Collection under supervision of the Technical Director. The primary role of this position is the recruitment of participants, specimen transfer/collection/storage/retrieval, database management, and regulatory documentation for the biorepository study as well as multi-site research studies. The Manager liaises with cooperative entities including clinicians from Gynecologic Oncology, Medical Oncology, and Pathology, clinical and translational research teams, staff at other facilities such as TTAB, Penn BioBank, and the Pathology Clinical Service Center. The Manager will oversee, update, manage, and maintain all human biospecimen freezers and databases (LabVantage) and manage the retrieval of identified biospecimens and providing these samples to other members of the research team within and outside of PENN as stipulated in the research protocols. This includes transfer, scanning, sorting, and pulling of all specimens. With the OCRC TBC operating as a service center, the Manager is responsible for communicating and assisting the consumers, both internal and external, to determine appropriate sample types and identify the specimens they need and then fulfill their requests.In addition, the Manager is an integral player of the Rapid Autopsy Program by being the center of coordination and execution for many moving parts which require coordination between the patient and their care team, the anatomic pathology department, the research team, and any necessary transportation. With the RAP expanding to multiple disease sites including the Pancreatic Cancer Research Center, the Manager is responsible for acting as an ambassador of the program.

Job Description

The Research Project Manager A position is specifically for the Tumor BioTrust Collection at the Ovarian Cancer Research Center (OCRC), responsible for performing the essential daily responsibilities starting from identifying potential patients and obtaining consent for tumor banking purposes, procurement in coordination with HUP, PAH, and CCH surgical teams, to aseptic processing, through banking and inventory management, to retrieval and disbursement, he or she will play a pivotal role in supporting seamless operations and expansion of the

PSOM approved service center as well as supporting internal and external investigators' biospecimen needs and research. The RPM will assist in assuring regulatory compliance by writing and editing of the IRB protocol, informed consent forms (ICF) as well as creating an electronic version of the consent form in PennChart. The RPM will also play an essential role in successful coordination and execution of the Penn Legacy Tissue Program (PLTP, aka Rapid Autopsy Program) and the program is also expanding to multiple disease sites including the Pancreatic Cancer Research Center. The RPM will be responsible for supervising the jointly held RS between the OCRC and the PCRC while supporting the successful execution of the RAP in both centers. We are seeking to hire an RPM with skills sets essential to this work and who's devoted and equipped to performing a higher level of complexity and supervisory role. Prior experience with Redcap, LabVantage, and human biospecimens is required. The ideal candidate will have strong computational skills and be proficient with computer-based systems including but not limited to Word, Excel, Redcap, iLab, and other online database programs. The ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills is necessary. Strong interpersonal skills and clear communication with the clinical research team, directors and primary investigators is required.

Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
