The Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Program Chief in Headache Medicine. This position is an Associate Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of the acute, chronic, and tertiary care of headache patients including the ability to do therapeutic nerve blocks, botulinum injections, and acute infusion therapies. The candidate will be familiar with the rapidly evolving therapeutic landscape of CGRP antagonist therapy. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. The successful applicant will be board certified in Neurology and Headache Medicine.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students, residents, clinical fellows, physicians, and fellows in allied specialties such as ENT, pain management, internal medicine. The successful candidate will help identify and schedule appropriate speakers and topics for the weekly headache group conference. The successful candidate will also assume responsibility for the development of a headache fellowship program within the first two years of the initial appointment.

Clinical responsibilities may include serving as the Program Chief in Headache Medicine, overseeing the recruitment, career development, and clinical activity scheduling of MD and APP division members in addition to personal clinics at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and other affiliated institutional sites. Opportunities for participation in industry-sponsored drug trials and institutional therapeutic initiatives may also be available.
