Job Description Summary
The Associate Director of Admissions Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity will be responsible for managing, directing, and implementing all aspects of multiple pipeline programs, including the summer PASS program, the Johnson Scholars Program, and A Day in the Life recruitment event. The Associate Director will develop and oversee all aspects of the interview day recruitment activities for UIM applicants as well as other recruitment activities such as Penn Visit Events. The Associate Director will serve as the Admissions representative to IDEAL MEd Associate Dean, Assistant Deans and student leaders.

Job Description

The Associate Director of Admissions Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity will be responsible for managing, directing, and implementing all aspects of multiple pipeline programs, including the summer PASS program, the Johnson Scholars Program, and A Day in the Life recruitment event. The Associate Director will develop and oversee all aspects of the interview day recruitment activities for UIM applicants as well as other recruitment activities such as Penn Visit Events. The Associate Director will serve as the Admissions representative to IDEAL MEd Associate Dean, Assistant Deans and student leaders.
  • Oversee 60-student undergraduate medical school preparation program (The Johnson Scholars Program) including 1 on 1 intrusive advising, planning, and organizing 2 -3 monthly enrichment events. Maintain records and reports of all students within the program, handle intake, selection as well as exit interviews. Serve as a counselor for these students who are in need of extra guidance.
  • Manage and lead Perelman linkage program (Penn Access Summer Scholars). Successful coordination of the program leads to students gaining entry to Perelman's School of Medicine. Managing includes: an 18-25-student summer undergraduate advising, event planning, curriculum planning, and the supervision of med student mentors.
  • Lead diversity recruitment efforts surrounding Perelman admissions including; talks on Admissions interview day, organizing UIM-specific revisit events, and coordinating the student-driven diversity recruitment team. Staying aware of the current UIM application pool. Assist in scholarship funding in providing context for the Financial Aid Director.
  • Design, implement manage and assess admissions programs with student leadership to improve diversity and inclusion recruitment.
  • Attend many recruiting events per year for underrepresented populations in medicine, including in-person travel and online conferences. Maintain open communications with interested parties, serving as an advocate during application season.
  • In conjunction with IDEAL MEd, serve as a safe space and advocate for current medical students at Perelman School of Medicine including building and maintaining relationships with over 20 different cultural/affinity group leaders on campus.
  • Plan and implement all aspects of the annual community outreach event-A Day in the Life for 200+ underrepresented students in medicine.
  • Assist in ongoing recruitment events for diversity and inclusion groups as needed; handle individual inquiries and visit requests.
  • Work with faculty and student mentors to manage networking and other recruitment activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
