Job Description Summary
The Program Manager will provide supervision, coordination, and support for a team of community- and hospital-based outreach workers. Violence interruption is a strategic evidence-based public health approach to reduce and prevent shootings and killings in areas with a high prevalence of gun violence. The Program Manager will work closely with the Program Director and Medical Director to manage day-to-day operations of the gun violence prevention program including supervision of a team of Outreach Workers and hospital-based Violence Intervention Specialists. They will oversee case management schedules of outreach teams and specialists and provide ongoing training, support, clinical supervision based on real-time data. The program manager will collaborate with the outreach workers to help them be as effective as possible and feel as supported as possible, as they work to detect and interrupt violence, mentor at-risk individuals towards prosocial paths and away from street violence and anti-social networks and change attitudes and social norms that promote violence in vulnerable communities in West Philadelphia. The Program Manager will collaborate with local health, social services, and community organizations locally to build strong connections and provide program participants with needed support. They will also support the management, organizational database, and partner communications through newly established PHIGHT Network of organizations working to reduce gun violence in Philadelphia. Job Description

This is a full-time position with the Penn Injury Science Center's new violence interruption and violence intervention initiative. DUTIES:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the gun violence prevention program including supervision of a team of Outreach Workers and Violence Interrupters
  • Supervise and coach a team of hospital-based and community-based outreach workers and specialists using a trauma informed lens
  • Build community support for the program (including faith-based community leaders, residents, businesses, and community organizations that provide services needed by program participants)
  • Coordinate, lead, and support regular mobilization and public education activities and organize a minimum of one anti-violence community event in the service area per month that brings residents together and discourages the acceptance of violence as a normal part of life
  • Assure systematic record keeping on program performance indicators, participant caseload and program highlights
  • Maintain data integrity and accuracy, submitting timely and complete monthly program reports via prescribed tool/mechanism


Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. Master's Degree in Social Work preferred. Candidate must have two to three years' experience working in community violence prevention and/or project management with content knowledge of community violence intervention. Must have training and skills to provide trauma informed support for outreach workers. Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal), organizational skills, and ability to navigate relationships with people of diverse faiths, gender identities, etc. Extensive knowledge of West/Southwest Philadelphia and other high-risk neighborhoods a plus. Proven ability to document programmatic activities and operate data/program management software. No pending criminal cases or prior convictions for domestic violence (within 10 years) or prior convictions for sexual assault or child abuse. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Working knowledge of all applicable computer software.
