Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Creative Director, the Multimedia Producer (MMP) is responsible for the creation of best-in-class video assets that advance marketing efforts and strengthen the brand of the Wharton School. Create digital video for websites, social media, promotional pages/microsites, marketing emails, advertisements, and live events that fulfill the School's lead nurturing, branding and conversion goals.

Responsibilities/Duties:

Working with the content producers and social strategists, the MMP is responsible for project management, production, development of creative briefs, and delivery of video content for online as well as in-person audiences, including prospective students, current students, faculty, alumni, and donors. Working with internal and external video production resources and senior management, the MMP is responsible for producing, capturing, and editing original content for high visibility events and/or Wharton digital publications and school initiatives.

Develop and maintain partner relationships within Wharton, across the university, and externally. Work with academic programs, research centers, faculty, and internal partners to understand their video needs, develop content strategy, execute production, and ensure timely delivery of video assets that achieve their business goals. Serve as the Marketing and Communications point-of-contact for video production techniques and execution. Must-have a deep understanding of current video best practices as well as partner marketing needs to achieve business goals.

Works collaboratively with Wharton's various Marketing and Communications units to realize shared goals and maintain brand quality and standards. Recommend and create video content based on user data, competitive advantage, and other strategic messages on behalf of the School's degree programs, executive leadership, faculty, External Affairs department, student and alumni events, conferences, and competitions. Educate content partners and various business units throughout the school on ways to produce video projects of their own that adhere to Wharton's brand standards. Advise and facilitate external vendor relationships established by Wharton departments. Makes ongoing recommendations to implement video and other original content across all Wharton digital properties.

Serves as the department's primary contact for external production companies, agencies, freelancers, and other professional vendor partners, reviewing their selection, agreements, workflow, and deadlines. Work with Director to ensure adherence to deadlines and cost terms that are in line with budget available. Establish best-in-class and centralized video content standards and resources according to industry best practices and brand guidelines. Ensure that University of Pennsylvania and Wharton policies and procedures are followed when working with internal and external clients.

Plans and develops multimedia stories; determine goals and messaging; researches and develops ideas and budgets; writes scripts and storyboards; schedules and conducts interviews; manages talent; scouts locations; obtains approvals and legal clearances; negotiates budgets; assists with set staging; serves as editor, videographer, and/or audio/lighting specialist; electronically organizes assets and final deliverables.

Identifies additional resources as needed and provides direction to any additional production staff, including interns and volunteers.

Participates in the design of video graphics, titles, music, and any additional creative assets necessary; makes editorial decisions regarding assembly of information, illustrations, and content.

Evaluate new audio/visual equipment and direct the installation and interfacing of new equipment in production facilities (ie: Wharton Production studio). May assist in repair and upkeep of production equipment.

Qualifications

Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred and 5-7 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Critical skills/Knowledge:
  • Mastery of the Adobe Creative Suite (Specifically proficient in Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and Encoder)
  • Outstanding writing abilities
  • Expert in video cameras, lighting equipment, audio equipment and accessories
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc. from content best practices to guidelines to analytics
  • Leadership capabilities that include strong self-motivation and a positive approach to leading others
  • High level of engagement and business knowledge
  • Strong understanding of AR and VR as potential content differentiators
  • Experience planning and maintaining a production budget

  • 5+ years of multimedia production experience
  • 2+ years of social media creation
  • Experience working with talent
  • Extensive photography experience
  • Extensive knowledge of content distribution
