The Department of Clinical Sciences & Advanced Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a Research Track Faculty position as an Assistant Professor of Immunobiology in the Associated Faculty. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in immunology/molecular & cell biology, a clinical medical degree (MD, DVM, etc.), and an accomplished track record of research in the area of adoptive cell therapies and genetic engineering in large animal models.

Research areas of interest should focus on:
  • Developing off-the-shelf, allogeneic cellular therapies
  • Understanding mechanisms of allogeneic cell persistence and rejection
  • Combination cellular therapies to improve safety, clinical efficacy and persistence of allogeneic products
  • Genetic engineering of immune cells
  • Clinical applications of adoptive cell therapies in large animal models

  • Applicants should have experience in a broad range of cellular immunology techniques including cell culture, flow cytometry, bulk and single-cell transcriptomics, and spatial profiling, and be well-versed in basic and applied transplant immunology. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a successful history of competitive grant funding for research, have current funding and be able to establish an outstanding research program as well as complement the expertise and contribute to the atmosphere of collegiality and professionalism within the Department's Division of Immunobiology.

    An appointment to research track faculty as Assistant Professor is for a three-year term with reappointment contingent upon satisfactory performance, adherence to School and University policies, and funding through external funding sources sufficient to cover 100% of salary and benefits. This position will be a full-time 12-month appointment with salary and benefits paid through external grant funding secured within the Nicola Mason Lab . Appointments of Research track faculty are untenured appointments to the Associated Faculty and follow University procedures governing these appointments. Research track faculty receive the same benefits as other full-time members of the faculty, but they are not entitled to scholarly leaves of absence or income allowance for early retirement.
