Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Information Technology Manager, the IT Support Specialist will provide technical support to optimize operational efficiency within the Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics (DRIA). Duties include but are not limited to diagnosing and resolving technical issues, maintaining hardware inventory, and providing software support to DRIA coaches and staff. This position will cultivate, maintain, and manage positive working relationships within DRIA, as well as technical contacts within the University. Additionally, this position will have on-call or on-site responsibility to assist in resolving and/or escalating technical issues during non-standard business hours for events, competitions, and tournaments hosted by DRIA.

Job Description

  • Provide technology support for desktop and mobile hardware and software to DRIA coaches and staff. Support approved third party products and integrate to production hardware lifecycle. Support DRIA technical needs for sporting and other events.
  • Maintain and manage production hardware and software for DRIA staff hardware lifecycle. Conduct regular system patching and software updates, implement, retire, and recycle hardware as staff are onboarded/offboarded. Properly document issues and provide regular reports on activity and status of production hardware and software issued to users. Maintain inventory of current software applications, networking related management/inventory such as IP addresses, Network Ports and DNS mappings, computer upgrades (hardware and software). Assist with configuration, implementation and troubleshooting and resolving technical problems for personal computers, laptops, mobile technology, and peripherals and support departmental proprietary systems.
  • Maintain a Service Desk knowledgebase; ensure Service Desk updates and create appropriate documentation for common problems, current issues, resolution of problems. Interact daily and communicate effectively with DRIA users on a variety of requests for desktop/IT support.
  • Participate in campus user groups and serve as a liaison between DRIA and the University central IT organization (ISC) in applying current standards and best practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned


Bachelor's Degree with 0-1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. The position is expected to maintain expert knowledge of DRIA and University IT systems, process, and services. Efficient and effective prioritization of IT service requests a must, as well as clear and transparent communication with customers and colleagues. Relevant experience with Microsoft Windows10, macOS, O365 as well as familiarity with Dell, Apple, and Android products is necessary. Experience with Microsoft Teams and VMWare Workspace One preferred. Experience with or certification in ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) as well as audio visual systems for live streaming, scoreboards, in athletic facilities a plus. Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
