SCAD seeks a knowledgeable archives and special collections librarian for its location in historic Savannah, Georgia.

In this full-time position, you will coordinate all aspects of Jen Library's distinctive archive and special collections area, which includes the prominent Don Bluth Collection of Animation, artists' book, and an array of other unique and rare materials. You will provide instruction, research, and outreach services that promote awareness of the archives and special collection to SCAD students and faculty. You will also be responsible for the acquisition, preservation, organization, and cataloging of the archives and special collections materials, as well as coordination of associated digitization projects, among other duties.

The successful candidate has spectacular written and verbal communication skills and uses these abilities to develop positive, collaborative working relationships. Knowledge of selection, preservation, arrangement, and access for physical archives and special collections is vital, as is the ability to perform MARC cataloging, describe archival collections in alignment with best practices, and promote the archives and special collections resources to a diverse audience.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • ALA-accredited master's degree
  • Experience with digitization, metadata, preservation, project management
  • Undergraduate degree in a SCAD discipline highly preferred

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
