SCAD Atlanta seeks an Associate Chair of Animation to provide vision and leadership for the university's animation department.

In this position, you will use your technical proficiency and expertise to develop and teach a curriculum that explores animation styles from stop-motion to 2D and 3D animation. You will evaluate professors through class observations and reviews of student evaluations, service and professional development opportunities, and their contributions to department goals.

With the associate dean of the School of Digital Media, you will be responsible for the daily operations of the animation department. You will develop, implement, and oversee the department budget; provide professional development opportunities for professors; make decisions on student academic matters; help place students in internships and careers; and create a strategic departmental plan that is consistent with SCAD and School of Digital Media goals. In addition, you will assist the office of admission with undergraduate recruitment efforts and teach classes as assigned. As an associate chair, you will also maintain and cultivate your relationships in the animation field.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated effectiveness as an academic leader and a successful career as a faculty member, including a reputation for high academic standards and innovation in curriculum and pedagogy to improve student learning and academic programs. This position requires someone who is self-driven, a stellar communicator, and an excellent team player. The successful candidate should have experience as a mentor, leader, and manager; can accomplish multiple tasks with ease, re-prioritizing as needed to meet deadlines; and should be exceptionally organized.

Requirements

- Terminal degree in animation

- Leadership and supervisory experience in an academic area

- Experience developing curriculum and leading achievement initiatives that improve student outcomes

- Demonstrated flexibility and professionalism in handling the diverse demands of a creative environment
