The Division of Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of pediatric solid tumors, sarcoma, and the design and conduct of early phase biomarker driven clinical trials. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D or equivalent degree. Board-certified in pediatric hematology/oncology.

Teaching responsibilities may include didactic and clinical instruction of junior faculty, instructors, residents, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, medical students, and clinical research staff.

Clinical responsibilities may include inpatient and outpatient care focused on children, adolescents and young adults with solid tumors and sarcoma at the Philadelphia University City Hospital, and active involvement in fellowship training. The candidate should have at least two years of experience as an attending physician after completion of fellowship training. The ideal candidate will have experience with precision medicine with a particular focus on management of patients enrolled on developmental therapeutics (phase 1/2) clinical trials.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include expanding translational and clinical research efforts in pediatric solid tumors and sarcoma, including designing, writing, and leading early phase clinical trials and facilitating biomarker discovery and validation. Biomarker-defined, histology-agnostic research that crosses disease areas is also encouraged. The successful applicant will be academically productive, collaborative, and able to expand our already robust research enterprise. The successful candidate should have experience conducting patient-oriented studies in collaboration with laboratory-based researchers and with clinical trialists, an established record of peer-reviewed scholarship and extramural grant funding including a K08 or equivalent career development funding, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively both locally and within cooperative groups.
