The DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL SCIENCES AND ADVANCED MEDICINE at the SCHOOL OF VETERINARY MEDICINE, UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA, invites applications from qualified individuals for a TENURE-TRACK appointment in Immuno-oncology at the rank of Assistant or Associate PROFESSOR. The successful candidate is expected to have a history of potential as an exemplary clinician and educator. Members of faculty in the Tenure Track (TT) track faculty are primarily devoted to research in their field of expertise. TT Faculty yearly may spend 5-15% of their time in clinical patient care in the Matthew J Ryan Veterinary Hospital and may participate in the clinical and didactic teaching of veterinary students, interns, and residents. It is imperative that candidates' primary and driving career interests and goals include scholarly accomplishment in the field, procurement of funding to support their research, and that they fully understand the duties and expectations specific to the TT track. The successful candidate is expected to have a track record in immuno-oncology research, clinical services, and teaching.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an appreciation of the importance of comparative and translational cancer research and will serve to advance veterinary and comparative immuno-oncology through an active research program within the Penn Vet Cancer Center (PVCC) at the School of Veterinary Medicine. The mission of the Penn Vet Cancer Center is to foster research into the causes of cancer, and its diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. A unique strength of the Cancer Center is its full integration with the world-class Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine and surrounding medical institutions, including the Wistar Institute and Children's Hospital (CHOP) of the University of Pennsylvania. Productive interactions and exciting collaborative cross-campus opportunities exist for the selected candidate.

Translational research programs within the PennVet Cancer Center are supported by interdisciplinary collaborations with the Comprehensive Cancer Care Service at the Matthew J Ryan Veterinary Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania. This busy service is supported by 11 full-time faculty and house staff with specialty training in the areas of medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, interventional radiology, immunotherapy, and clinical support services. There is considerable expertise in translational immunobiology and immunotherapy within the Cancer Center and four Board-certified Center members hold dual veterinary degrees and doctorates in immunology. The clinical oncology caseload serves to support the basic and translational research activities of investigators at both the Veterinary and Medical Schools, and sophisticated and progressive clinical trials are supported by the School's Veterinary Clinical Investigations Center ( http://www.vet.upenn.edu/research/clinicaltrials/ vcic).
