Job Description Summary
The Program Coordinator for the Wharton-AltFinance Virtual Institute is a key member of the Wharton-AltFinance team, which is a part of the Wharton Global Youth Program. Wharton-AltFinance will build the educational component of the AltFinance initiative through online coursework that will be open to students at all HBCUs, with educational tools developed by Wharton. The Program Coordinator works on all aspects of online programming and course development, creating curricula compatible with the online space, developing and maintaining relationships with AltFinance and its partners, incorporating online tools and resources for deeper student learning and understanding, supporting the management of the online systems, and leading the operational logistics for online programs and on-campus events.

Job Description

The Program Coordinator for the Wharton-AltFinance Virtual Institute is a key member of the Wharton-AltFinance team, which is a part of the Wharton Global Youth Program. The Program Coordinator works on all aspects of online programming and course development, creating curricula compatible with the online space, developing and maintaining relationships with AltFinance and its partners, incorporating online tools and resources for deeper student learning and understanding, supporting the management of the online systems, and leading the operational logistics for online programs and on-campus events.

DUTIES

Administrative Coordination
  • Create detailed master calendars for online programming
  • Assist with future hiring coordination, scheduling interviews, recruiting and training student workers and keeping track of hiring data
  • Address AltFinance and its partners' inquiries regarding programs, logistics, schedules, etc., in a timely manner


Instructional Design and Online Program Support
  • Co-Create and manage the portfolio of Wharton-AltFinance Canvas course sites for online programs
  • Manage the course review and evaluation process. Aid in the creation of surveys and other forms of data to inform revisions
  • Serve as a liaison to the larger online course development community (both internal and external) to keep informed of current trends in online course design and delivery and facilitate the success and satisfaction of online learners
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of online programming for Wharton-AltFinance fellows, including: overseeing student communication, addressing technical questions, revising Canvas course sites as needed, maintaining course and project deadlines, assisting instructional team with teaching needs, monitoring the asynchronous course/program activities, processing badges and certificates


Online Community Development
  • Develop and implement an online virtual community for AltFinance fellows, to include informative and engaging events, challenges, workshops, guest speakers and relevant activities
  • Coordinate outreach across Wharton and Penn to engage different resource centers, alumni, and student groups for community events/engagement
  • Create and maintain a master schedule of programming for the AltFinance community
  • Develop themes and brainstorm graphics/visuals for Canvas course and upload/organize course for use


REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree and minimum 2-3 years work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Individual should possess strong communication skills and a desire to work in a collaborative environment. Applicants should demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects and a passion for financial education. Demonstrated experience with online learning course development highly preferred, including:
  • Course building in Instructure's Canvas
  • Working knowledge of HTML
  • Understanding of online instructional design principles
  • Recommended: Experience with basic video and graphic editing

Successful candidate will also have a commitment to servicing diverse students and a passion for learning.
