The Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

Responsibilities may include designing and carrying out experiments, manuscript preparation and submission, training and managing students and lab staff. The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop research credentials and write grants.

Evidence of additional experience required:

  • 4 years of post doctoral experience in basic science research

  • Candidates who have received or applied for an NIH Award or other Career Development Awards

  • Knowledge of the Sigma 2/TMEM97 field, as proven by publication record

  • Extensive experience in radioligand binding assays, functional cell assays, cell culture, small animal experiments, experience with human tissues, sectioning tissues, autoradiography, high throughput compound screening, and imaging techniques (confocal microscopy, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence)

  • Expertise in the fields of lipids, cancer, and neuroscience as proven by a publication record

  • History of mentoring and managing students and scientific staff
