Job Description Summary
At the direction of the Director of Clinical Operations - Network Physics, the Medical Physicist (A/B/C) is an ABR/ABMP board eligible or board-certified Medical Physicist who will play a primary role in meeting the overall clinical physics needs in the Penn Medicine network. Specifically, the Medical Physicist will provide clinical coverage of medical physics activities, including chart checking, machine QA support, treatment planning, and performing special treatment procedures, such as 4DCT simulation, brachytherapy, and implementing new treatment techniques. The Medical Physicist is expected to maintain knowledge of current technologies, Penn Medicine physics & dosimetry policies and procedures, and actively participate in Chart rounds, regular physics meetings, and departmental meetings. This position is located at our Penn Medicine Virtua Health Proton Center in Voorhees, New Jersey.

Job Description


The Medical Physicist (A/B/C) is a board eligible or a board certified Medical Physicist whose primary responsibility will be at Penn Medicine -Virtua Health Proton Therapy Center in Voorhees, New Jersey. As a unit of radiation oncology at Virtua Health, the responsibilities are also shared and integrated with the photon therapy service at the same location. The medical physicist is expected to perform clinical physics duties which include but not limited to equipment quality assurance and calibration, simulation and treatment planning, patient specific quality assurance and required chart checks and review, equipment maintenance and vendor relations, radiation safety, and special physics activities. At the direction of the Director of Clinical Operations - Network Physics, the Medical Physicist will participate in teaching and education activities, clinical developmental activities. The Medical Physicist will be familiar with clinical procedures guiding Radiation Therapy Clinical Physics. The Medical Physicist is expected to maintain knowledge of current technologies, Penn Medicine policies and procedures, and actively participate in Chart Rounds, clinical physics meetings, and division seminars etc.


Medical Physicist A: American Board of Radiology (ABR) eligible; no experience is required; residency training in medical physics is preferred

Medical Physicist B: ABR-certified; 2-3 years' experience working as a full-time medical physics (A)

Medical Physicist C: ABR-certified; 5-7 years' experience as a fulltime medical physicist

Must possess knowledge of and experience with Varian's ARIA, Eclipse, TrueBeam, and conventional clinical physics procedures, including but not limited to: operation and calibration of treatment devices, operation and calibration of dosimetry equipment, operation and calibration of treatment planning systems, quality assurance procedures, "specialized procedures" (SRS, SBRT), and familiarity safety procedures and regulations as per the PA and NJ Department of Environmental Protection. Prior proton therapy experience is preferred but not required.
