Job Description Summary
The Palliative and Advanced Illness Research (PAIR) Center is seeking to expand its team of experienced project managers to support its growing portfolio of NIH-funded studies, including observational research and randomized clinical trials (RCTs). The mission of the PAIR Center is to generate high-quality evidence to advance healthcare policies and practices with the goals of improving the lives of all people affected by serious illness and removing the barriers to health equity that seriously ill patients commonly face.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced project manager to support studies within Dr. Meeta Kerlin's research portfolio that involve patients with critical illness. Studies include:
  • The Implementing Nudges to Promote Utilization of low Tidal volume ventilation (INPUT) study, a stepped-wedge cluster randomized trial funded by the NIH that is designed to test electronic health record (EHR) nudges to promote best practices among patients who undergo mechanical ventilation in an intensive care unit.
  • An NIH-funded retrospective cohort study in which we will apply economic modeling methods to understand the role of physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists as individuals and as teams in the quality of care and outcomes of patients who undergo mechanical ventilation.

The successful candidates will join the PAIR Center's Project Management Core and be responsible for carrying out the following duties for their assigned studies:
  • Supervision of research staff and study procedures including subject enrollment, delivery of interventions, survey administration, data collection, and subject remuneration
  • Interfacing with data managers, data analysts, and data scientists to inform the development of study databases, EHR-based interventions and reports, data entry and management protocols, statistical analysis plans, and reporting for study monitoring (data safety, subject accrual, outcomes assessment, adherence to protocols, adverse events).
  • Liaising with clinical sites to ensure consistency and quality in study implementation
  • Convening internal and external stakeholders, advisors, and oversight committees for regularly scheduled and ad hoc meetings
  • Maintaining compliance with regulatory and sponsor reporting requirements
  • Contributing to manuscript development.

Master's Degree with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required

Prior experience in health services research and clinical trial management is required, as is a demonstrated ability to manage several projects concurrently.

A history of productive collaboration with data managers and analysts would be advantageous.

Successful candidates will have superior written and verbal communication skills and should be able to critically review data.

These individuals will function independently in carrying out most responsibilities and must feel comfortable communicating regularly with multiple stakeholders across several health systems.
