The Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania inspires an understanding of the relationship between plants, people and place through education, research and horticultural display. Located in the Northwest section of the city, the Morris Arboretum is a destination for plant lovers from Philadelphia and beyond. The home to a collection of more than 13,000 woody plants and host to special and educational events. Morris Arboretum is a hub for botany, horticulture and urban forestry and a special part of Penn.

Job Description

The Youth Education Outreach Coordinator will forge & nurture new and existing connections with principals & teachers in northwest School District of Philadelphia schools. The successful candidate will articulate Arboretum program goals while determining the best ways to meet the needs of teachers and students through visits and connections to Morris Arboretum.

The Youth Education Outreach Coordinator position is a part-time temporary position, working an average of 20 hours per week. This position is based in the Education Department, working with and reporting to the Assistant Director of Youth and Visitor Education. The successful candidate will have a working familiarity with the School District of Philadelphia and be a successful advocate of outdoor learning.


  • Identify and connect with new schools in Northwest Philadelphia interested in partnering with the Morris Arboretum.
  • Encourage existing school partners into multiple visits per year schedule.
  • Discover and articulate program needs of NW Philadelphia schools to Youth Education team.
  • Track and report on progress of school engagements to Education and Development teams.


  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working Philadelphia School District, ideally those in NW Philadelphia
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Willingness to work both independently and collaboratively with other program staff
  • Be familiar with and stay current on PDE Standards Aligned System
  • Valid PA driver's license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid PA child abuse history clearance, fingerprinting, and PA State Police Criminal Record Check
