On behalf of The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and The Children's Hospital, CareerPhysician, LLC, a leader in academic pediatric leadership recruitment, has initiated a national search to identify a transformational leader to appoint as the new Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. The appointed chief will have the great opportunity to establish the vision and strategy that will continue the division's pursuit of clinical, educational and research excellence, and national prominence.

We are seeking a nationally respected thought leader recognized for strong academic contributions to pediatric hematology/oncology and, ideally, a demonstrated track record of external grant support. The institution is also strongly considering candidates who are strong clinical educators with strong leadership experience, academic contributions in their areas of interest, and proven plans and capabilities to foster the academic mission of the division and its faculty.

Key Opportunity Highlights:
  • $7.5 million from the Everest Trust to build a world-class pediatric cancer program
  • $4 million CHF Gaylord/Inasmuch Endowed Chair in Pediatric Hematology Oncology
  • $6 million fund raising commitment from the Children's Hospital Foundation for research
  • Two $2+ million endowed chairs to support future faculty recruitment
  • Dual appointments at Stephenson Cancer Center and OU College of Medicine
  • Stephenson Cancer Center is an NCI-designated center and ranked Top 50 (top 1%) “Best Hospitals for Cancer” US News and World Reports
  • Pencil bean scanning, adaptive aperture portion irradiation therapy and state-of-the-art ambulatory care center
  • Division engaged in active basic research programs in T and B-cell leukemia, using zebrafish models as well as investigator-initiated studies and robust portfolio of clinical trials through the Children's Oncology Group; trial accruals annually rank in the 85th-90th percentile of COG institutions.
  • Oklahoma Children's Hospital is a 246-bed, level I pediatric trauma center. The hospital averages 115 new cancer diagnoses each year and provides 24 inpatient beds dedicated to hematology/oncology, including four HEPA-filtered suites for SCT patients. The program receives approximately 13,000 outpatient visits each year.
  • Vibrant Oklahoma City is home to 1.5 million residents and offers excellent education, professional sports and a revitalized downtown Riverwalk that is home to nationally awarded restaurants and fun nightlife.
