Dean of Graduate Studies and Research

 

California State University, Stanislaus (Stanislaus State) seeks applications from and nominations of accomplished, innovative academicians for consideration as the newly created position of Dean of Graduate Studies and Research. The University is part of California State University (CSU), a 23-campus system across California. With more than 470,000 students, it is the largest, the most diverse, and one of the most affordable university systems in the country. CSU campuses emphasize access to quality public higher education and workforce preparation that is responsive to regional needs.

 

Widely recognized for its quality academic programs, Stanislaus State has 10 nationally accredited programs and more than 300 full-time faculty. Over 80% of full-time faculty members hold doctorates or terminal degrees in their fields. The University offers a rich mix of 45 undergraduate majors, 43 undergraduate minor programs, 14 master's programs, seven post-graduate credential programs, and one doctorate program in educational leadership. New instructional facilities have been built for the unique pedagogy of professional programs, laboratory sciences, and performing arts.

 

The Dean of Graduate Studies and Research oversees the Graduate Studies and Research Office (GSR) and reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Dean provides leadership for the graduate and research missions of the University. The Graduate Studies and Research Office provides support to the Graduate Council, the policy for graduate programs and is responsible for developing the Center for Excellence in Graduate Education (CEGE).

 

The Dean of Graduate Studies and Research is responsible for working closely with the Provost, departments, deans, faculty, Graduate Council, Senate, the Chancellor's Office and other external stakeholders to lead, support, promote, build and enhance vibrant programs for: (1) building an overarching graduate studies and educational experience and supporting graduate academic programs; and (2), creating a campus climate that enhances robust research, creative and scholarly activities opportunities for both intramural and external funding for faculty, undergraduates, and graduate students.
