Executive Director of SCADshow

As the executive director, you will serve as a charismatic representative of SCAD, adept at communicating and relating to elite audiences, ensuring the resonance of the institution's cultural endeavors. You will be responsible for developing a comprehensive, meticulous six-month theater event schedule, implementing initiatives to renew the performing arts scene, and forging meaningful connections within the industry. The executive director will curate thought-provoking panels that combine SCAD programming with artistic wisdom, academics, and industry leaders.

In this position, you will lead a team of professionals in a creative, innovative, and collaborative environment, work with stakeholders to expand signature events, and direct daily theater operations. The executive director will manage the budget and foster strong community relationships. This position requires a keen ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders to expand and enhance SCAD signature events, festivals, and other programming, fostering an engaging and vibrant arts and culture community. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of establishing and nurturing relations with industry leaders and influential entities across various sectors.

 Minimum Qualifications:   

  • Bachelor's degree in arts administration or a related field and at least 10 years in theater operations or a related field
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, a demonstrated history of crafting and executing high-caliber events
  • Excellent leadership skills and experience managing a high-performing team
  • Impeccable organizational skills and the ability to multitask
  • In-depth knowledge of the performing arts and entertainment industry in Atlanta


Travel required:

  • 10% to 20%

Work Hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
