Departmental Administrative Assistant

As a departmental administrative assistant for the fashion department, you will be responsible for maintaining the department leaders' calendars/schedules, completing paperwork, ordering and maintaining office supplies, and collaborating with housekeeping to ensure the building is student ready. This role requires undertaking the arrangement of department meetings and preparing agendas, supporting end-of-quarter documentation, and supporting the university's operation showcase.

In this role, you will need advanced project and people management skills to support department academic projects and university initiatives, collaborate with the academic operations managers, and meet requirements and deadlines. You will also be working in support of matters that require confidentiality, accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines, such as responding to student questions in a timely manner, supporting the department with class and workshop scheduling, delivering mail, composing correspondences, and maintaining a filing system.

The successful candidate has excellent written and verbal communication skills, is supremely organized, and can manage multiple priorities with flexibility and ease. The candidate can thrive independently and as a team member and demonstrates a commitment to professionalism, honesty, and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • One year of related experience
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite software

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in fashion industry
  • Successful work experience in an academic environment

Travel Required: Less than 10%

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
  • Valid driver's license

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
