Our mission is to achieve enduring excellence in research and education in science, engineering, medicine, and business, for the benefit of society.

The College was founded in 1907 in South Kensington, bringing together nineteenth-century institutions including the Royal College of Science, the Royal School of Mines, and City and Guilds College. Today, Imperial provides globally leading education in STEM subjects for more than 19,000 students, over half of whom come from overseas, reflecting its status as the UK's most international university. Its alumni and members also include 14 Nobel laureates and three Fields Medallists.

One of four faculties, Imperial College Business School is deeply embedded in the College, with strong links to Imperial's world-leading work in science, technology, engineering and medicine, while also being a prominent and distinct academic enterprise and a sub-brand of the College in its own right. Recent years have seen continuous innovation in our offering, including the introduction of interdisciplinary programmes such as the BSc Economics, Finance & Data Science and a compulsory EDI module for all students which won the AMBA award for Best Culture, Diversity and Inclusion Initiative in 2021. 97% of the Business School's research activity was assessed as world leading or internationally excellent and we are second in the UK for the proportion of world-leading research in business and management studies and first for research environment. With more than 2,200 students from 118 countries, the Business School plays a crucial role in empowering students to drive business and social transformation through the fusion of business and technology.
