The Institute for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of circadian biology, pharmacokinetics and cardiovascular disease. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.

Responsibilities may include using Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and mouse model to study proteomics in circadian biology; Developing untargeted LC-MS methods using UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS system to identify and quantitate proteins in tissue/cell lines with a large coverage of the total proteome; Discovering proteins/PTMs that affect rhythms, and further identify pathways that are relevant to mechanisms; Developing targeted LC-MS method for core circadian proteins.

Responsibilities may also include assisting in the mentoring of trainees and applying for grants.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to primarily carry out a research program under the direction of Dr. Garret FitzGerald. The position will also allow the candidate to grow as an independent scientist and gain eligibility to apply for funding through different mechanisms.
