The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. Applicants must have an M.D and/or Ph.D or equivalent degree.

Teaching responsibilities may include mentoring of graduate and medical students which are an integral component of this position.

Clinical responsibilities may include providing essential contributions to the clinical programs of the department, including substantial teaching and/or independent contributions to clinical research programs.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include wet and/or dry bench skills that are using cutting edge technologies to provide insights into immune processes that can be utilized to improve diagnosis, prognosis and outcomes of patients with immune-related pathologies. The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent, externally funded research program that aligns with our institutional efforts to develop clinically actionable insights, diagnostics, computational methods, and data analytics to improve the diagnosis and care of patients with diseases involving the immune system.

Successful applicants will have several years of postdoctoral or clinical research experience, and strong potential to generate independent extramural funding. Individuals with backgrounds in human immunology and with research programs focused on aspects of translational immunology are encouraged to apply. The primary faculty appointment will be in the Dept of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine; however, there are opportunities to be aligned with appropriate Centers and Institutes at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, such as the Institute for Immunology, Center for Cellular Immunotherapies, Epigenetics Institute, etc.
