SCAD seeks a part-time professor of illustration to join its faculty in Atlanta and become part of a program ranked No. 1 in the United States by Universities.com.

The SCAD illustration department prepares students for a wide array of professional careers and has fashioned a diverse and focused curriculum that addresses the career needs of the present and future. The new illustration curriculum includes concentrations in concept design for animation and games as well as illustration for entertainment. As a professor, you will provide students with the expertise and knowledge in these areas to prepare them for successful careers. With enthusiasm and a commitment to excellence, you will also motivate students as they create meaningful visual solutions for corporate partners.

The ideal candidate has a keen eye for the development of impeccably designed visual narratives and uses their mastery of the illustration and design process to generate memorable solutions. The successful candidate demonstrates excellent digital rendering, sketching, and visualization abilities, as well as a strong understanding of linear and atmospheric perspective, figurative illustration, environments, structures, and props. A desire to mentor exceptional students and the ability to foster an active, engaging environment is vital. Knowledge of 3D modeling is a plus.

Students also have partnered with top brands from Coca-Cola to Lexus and have worked with major publishers like Rolling Stone, the New York Times, and more.

Requirements
- Terminal degree or its equivalent in illustration or related field

- Minimum of five years of professional experience in illustration, including concept and character design and visual development

- Knowledge of the animation workflow from storyboarding and color scripting to style matching
