SCAD Savannah seeks an experienced chair for its liberal arts department, home to SCAD Core, one of the most academically diverse general education programs at any arts university in the U.S. In SCAD Core classes, students learn to express, defend, and investigate new ideas in required and elective classes in subjects including anatomy, astronomy, biology, communication, English, foreign languages, mathematics, philosophy, physics, political science, and psychology.

In this full-time role, you will develop curricula and assist professors within the department through class observations and reviews of student evaluations, contributions to departmental goals, and service and professional development. In consultation with the School of Liberal Arts dean and department members, you will develop a strategic plan for the department that is consistent with the School of Liberal Arts' goals and overall SCAD strategic plan. You will provide professional development opportunities for professors, foster interdepartmental collaboration, and continue to enhance the reputation of the SCAD liberal arts department in academic and professional circles. Among other duties, you will also work with admission to recruit undergraduate and graduate students and teach classes annually as assigned.

Requirements
  • Doctoral degree required
  • Distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and professional expertise
  • Minimum of five years of experience instructing at the collegiate level
