Job Description Summary
Seeking Program Assistants to implement community engagement strategies as part of the Philadelphia Community Engagement Alliance Against COVID-19, a partnership between Penn Nursing and Philly Counts.

Job Description

Program Assistants will participate in a paid, twenty-week organizing program. Program Assistants will work in priority neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia, as part of a partnership between Penn Nursing and Philly Counts.

Program Assistants will collaborate with Penn Nursing and Philly Counts Organizers as part of the Philadelphia Community Engagement Alliance Against COVID-19 (Philly CEAL) program. Program Assistants will learn, practice, and execute community organizing tactics that will be useful now and in the future. Program Assistants will work in specific neighborhoods and help create and carry out plans to spread the word about the COVID-19 vaccines and provide the information people need to make healthy decisions for themselves and their loved ones. Program Assistants will have a key role in helping increase COVID-19 vaccination rates across Philadelphia.

Duties:
  • Commit 20 hours per week working with Philly CEAL. This could include a mix of day, evening, and weekend hours.
  • Commit to achieving goals to strategically build the organization.
  • Complete an initial training to receive appropriate organizing and public health information about vaccines, vaccine distribution, and Penn Nursing and Philly Counts' strategies and goals.
  • Work with organizers to recruit people and build neighborhood groups working toward a common goal, or neighborhood coalitions.
  • Engage new supporters and move them to action, including: accessing and learning about the vaccine, volunteering in their communities to make positive change, and learning how to use city resources to impact their neighborhoods for years to come.
  • Talk to communities by canvassing, tabling, phone banking, and text banking to spread the word about the vaccine.
  • Assist with planning and executing community events that raise awareness about and increase access to the vaccine.
  • Collect and share stories from communities.
  • Partner with other Philly CEAL and Philly Counts community partners.
