Job Description Summary
The Urban Health Lab (UHL) Project Manager (PM) is a unique opportunity to grow and lead Deeply Rooted, a new academic-community collaborative which leverages the healing power of nature to promote health and wellbeing in Black and Brown Philadelphia communities. The PM will work closely with UHL Faculty Director Dr. Eugenia South and Director Nicole Thomas to implement all aspects of Deeply Rooted, including creating ample new green space in West and Southwest Philadelphia neighborhoods, support job and leadership training, activate new and existing greenspaces through community grants to build social cohesion, and environmental justice advocacy.

The ideal candidate (1) is passionate about the health and wellbeing of Black and Brown communities, (2) has experience leading large, multi-component community or academic-community programs, (3) is a proven leader with strong organization and managerial skills, (4) is excellent at relationship management and (5) has strong writing and communication skills.

The Penn Urban Health Lab (UHL) is dedicated to designing and testing individual and community level interventions to build healthy neighborhoods. The UHL has a focus in urban nature, violence prevention, place-based interventions, and structural racism. The UHL Project Manager will (1) oversee the development, implementation, and day-to-day activities of all aspects of Deeply Rooted including project mapping, management of staff working on Deeply Rooted, regulatory requirements, data collection and management, monitoring project outcomes against benchmarks and provides solutions for variance, creating progress reports and presentations, etc., (2) cultivate and maintain community partnerships and stakeholder relationships, (3) communicate regularly with UHL Faculty Director and Director about progress, issues, innovations, and solutions to advance the UHL research and community-focused action agenda (4) prepare regular communications and presentations for UHL meetings, (5) assist in writing, preparation, and submission of manuscripts, opinion pieces, and grants.
