General Summary

The School of Theatre and Dance at Illinois State University seeks a full-time tenure-track faculty member in Media Design and Video Editing. This is a nine-month tenure-track appointment. This position will begin August 16, 2022.

Duties: Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in media and projection design and video editing as well as other courses in the candidate's interest area; mentor student designers and technicians in media and projection design; mentor student filmmakers. Participation in recruitment for and shared governance of the School of Theatre and Dance; service at the department, college, and university levels. SCHOOL OF THEATRE AND DANCE
The School of Theatre and Dance is one of three schools within the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts. The School has 30 faculty, 10 staff, and 320 students enrolled in the B.A./B.S., M.A./M.S. and M.F.A. degrees. Areas of undergraduate study include Production Design and Technology, Film and Digital Media, Acting, Theatre Teacher Education, Theatre Studies, Dance, and Dance Education. M.F.A. areas of study include Directing, Costume, Lighting, and Scenic Design. Its annual production season consists of eight theatre productions and two dance concerts in two facilities, a 525-seat proscenium space and a flexible space that can be adapted to a 125-seat thrust or 150-seat arena. ILLINOIS SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL
The Illinois Shakespeare Festival produces Shakespeare and contemporary plays in the spirit of Shakespeare every summer at the beautiful Ewing Cultural Center in Bloomington, Illinois. As an U/RTA member institution, the Festival hires professional artists and offers a variety of internships to college and university students. Supported by Illinois State University and the Illinois Shakespeare Festival Society, the Festival sells an average of 10,000 tickets per year and has just completed its 44th season. WONSOOK KIM COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS
The Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts also includes the School of Music, the School of Art, and the Program in Arts Technology. Required Qualifications

1. Terminal degree (M.F.A. or Ph.D.) in theatre design, film production, digital media, or a related field.
2. Expertise and/or teaching experience in media design and filmmaking.
3. An established or emerging pattern of compelling creative scholarship and/or publications/presentations.
4. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and student success.
5. Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.
