Senior Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control; Associate Professor/Professor, AC Track, Division of Infectious Diseases
Perelman School of Medicine - Pediatrics - Infectious Diseases

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Open Date: Sep 20, 2021
Deadline: Sep 20, 2023 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D or equivalent degree.

Teaching responsibilities may include high-quality teaching of CHOP fellows and residents as well as medical students from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.

Clinical responsibilities may include providing coverage in two inpatient consultation services, one service focused on children with general infectious diseases and another dedicated to the care of immunocompromised hosts. Additionally, as CHOP expands its footprint (i.e. King of Prussia Hospital) and the Division of Infectious Diseases partners with outside organizations, some local travel may be required. The division also has a busy outpatient clinical practice. In addition to our General Infectious Diseases Clinic, we have dedicated “partner-clinics” to provide collaborative outpatient care to outpatients with other underlying conditions, including malignancies, bone marrow, organ transplantation, and cystic fibrosis.

The successful candidate will provide medical leadership for the Department of Infection Prevention and Control as Senior Medical Director. The department supports the Philadelphia campus hospital, newly built King of Prussia Hospital, 4 ambulatory surgery centers, and an expansive primary care and specialty care network. The Senior Medical Director partners with the System Director of Infection Prevention and Control in setting and implementing an agenda that advances institutional goals and objectives to eliminate healthcare-associated infections and advance the field of pediatric infection prevention. The Senior Medical Director provides mentorship to the Associate Medical Directors of Infection Prevention and Control in the execution of institutional initiatives, with a focus on prevention practices, safety, quality, operational excellence, financial stewardship, patient-family experience, and in promoting interdisciplinary collaboration. With matrixed reporting to the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of the Office or Preparedness, Prevention and Response (OPPR), the Senior Medical Director participates in and leads institutional projects and initiatives, and acts as an institutional physician ambassador internally and externally.

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia are EOEs. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
