Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for several Instructor positions in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of Pediatrics. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree and be board certified/board eligible in pediatrics.

Responsibilities may include the development of research credentials, including scholarship. Some clinical duties and the teaching of residents, medical students, and/or fellows may be required.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to attend several educational seminars to prepare them for an academic career.

The successful candidate will also show evidence of any of the following:

  • received/or applied for an NIH K Award or other Career Development Awards from foundations.
  • active training in clinical and/or basic science research related to a specific area.
  • development of expertise in teaching, administration, clinical research. The applicant must have a demonstrated research focus in a specific area with a desire to start an independent career.
  • enrollment in additional training programs including Master's studies.
