Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Systems and Technology, and indirectly to the Senior Data Scientist, the role of the Data Analyst/Coordinator within the Wharton MBA Admissions office will be responsible for two key and supporting components of the work that MBA Admissions does.

Job Description

This role will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the systems in use in MBA Admissions and will be responsible for both the development and then implementation of all current and future systems utilized by the office. Those systems currently in use include, Qualtrics, CVENT, Salesforce, Pardot, Qualtrics, Campaign Monitor, and CollegeNET. These systems all collect and store large amounts of data critical to the operations of the office. This role will have the primary responsibility of ensuring the utmost quality and integrity of this data. Prior deep knowledge of these exact systems isn't required but the ability to want to learn, navigate, improve upon and build systems will be key.

In addition to supporting and building on all of the systems that are currently operating in Wharton MBA Admissions the data analyst/coordinator will be responsible for the analysis of the data that is provided by those systems. In this capacity the data analyst will work with the Senior Data Scientist in order to build and provide continual analysis of MBA Admissions data across four key dimensions (Recruitment, Evaluation, Selection and Yield) for the Director of MBA Admissions and other members of staff. Another key responsibility of the Data Analyst will be to work closely with the Senior Data Scientist and other staff members to develop and implement surveys and other data collection tools in order to address specific strategic initiatives.

In order to achieve this objective this role will be required to produce statistical analyses, ad-hoc reports, and data visualization for multiple purposes including event management and recruitment & yield planning. The Data Analyst/Coordinator serves as the offices' primary user of Microsoft Power BI and is responsible for running reports and working with the Systems Manager to ensure the integrity of data collection and reporting. The Data Analyst/Coordinator is responsible for integrating various data collection, management, and marketing systems while working across departments at Wharton including the Offices of Wharton Computing & Marketing and Communications. At its core this role will be at the center of helping advance the office's continued work in data-driven admissions and financial aid strategies.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS and 2 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to proactively assess current procedures and develop systems that improve efficiency of the MBA Admissions and Financial Aid Office,allowing for delivery of timely information to staff.
  • Knowledge of statistics/statistical analysis and R/Python, Microsoft Access and Excel is required (proficient in use of formulas, pivot tables, graphs/charts; VBA code, macros, etc. preferred).
  • Proficiency with data visualization software, such as PowerBI and/or Tableau, required.Experience building dashboards and reports in these environments is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to use data to inform strategy, including being able to communicate highly technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Attention to detail is crucial to this position; in particular, ability and willingness to process and scrub large amounts of data from various sources, as well as having a keen eye for data integrity and quality issues.
