Job Description:
The Senior Server Administrator reports to the Director of Network & Infrastructure of the SUNY Orange ITS department and is responsible for managing various technology projects.

The Senior Server Administrator must bring a level of experience implementing and standardizing an organizational infrastructure. A complete understanding of the MS Windows Active Directory topology (Forest, Domain, etc.) and trusts between entities is key to this position. The SSA will install and maintain equipment in a multiple datacenter environment as well as deploy, configure, maintain and administer new and existing servers, storage and backups. The SSA will also have the responsibility to execute daily system monitoring, server integrity checks, review system and application logs and verify scheduled job completion (backups, etc.).

The SSA is expected to function well under pressure, within time constraints and with a high degree of accuracy, diplomacy and confidentiality. The ability to coordinate workflow while dealing with multiple projects and deadlines is required.

Requirements:
Education Required:
Bachelor's degree and one year of required experience or Associates Degree and three years of required experience. Degree must be in Computer Science, Information Systems, or comparable field.

Experience Required Experience in Microsoft Active Directory as well with RedHat Linux 6 or higher (intermediate); VMWare vSphere (intermediate); MS Windows Server 2008 and 2012 Full and Core; MS Windows 7 and newer.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Powershell scripting skills
  • VMWare ESXi, vMotion and Horizon skills
  • License Management expertise and skills
  • Server diagramming and documentation skills
  • Identity Management expertise
  • Security certifications
  • Community college or higher education experience.
  • Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationship with supervising personnel, coworkers, all constituents and the public.
  • Perform well under pressure, within time constraints, with a high degree of accuracy, diplomacy and confidentiality
  • Ability to coordinate work flow while dealing with multiple projects and deadlines
  • Must be able to travel between the college's two campuses and other sites
  • Bilingual Skills
